The only song in the Filipino languange to win a place in the finals; the only Filipino act in the charts (Mistula songs are consistently in the Rock Charts and at various instances even peaked at number 1); the only Filipino band among the finalists and winners; and most amazingly, the only group to feature members made of resin – Mistula continues to push the boundaries of conventions, something that the band has constantly been trying to achieve ever since their genesis.

Bella Lugosi, drummer and band leader:
“Going into the finals round, alone, is a big surprise for all of us. So naturally, 4th place is absolutely mindblowing. First and foremost in our “unending gratitude” list is of course the Mistula Flock – the Black Rosary knights and ladies - whose belief has remained unshaken and whose faith has moved mountains and virtual chart placements to keep us in the competition.
We have, I believe, one of the most loyal, the most rabid, the most vocal fan bases in the planet, and it amazes us to no end. They are never afraid to show how they feel, and to speak their minds, and to “rip to shreds”, at least in the online sense, anyone who tries to sway them from what they firmly believe in. That’s something we are extremely proud of: just the scope and the universality of our message and the fact that people are actually willing to fight for it.
Likewise, earning the blessings and the virtual nods of the music critics and industry people who support all these other artists is such a rewarding experience, for the band, for the webteam, and most especially for the song itself. Every update, we try as much as possible to go into new, unexplored territories. It’s how creativity works in the first place, right? And in the update that led to “The Last Supper”’s initial web release, we tried to cram as much firsts as possible: the first time the band “died” and “resurrected”; the first time Manx and Uno shared vocal duties; the first time we unveiled the Mistula Custom guitars and bass; and the first time Mistula appeared on the printed page.
Now, one year after its web release, the song is still drawing in new sets of listeners, still stimulating thoughts, more than enough to make it to the 4th place. The power of the idea is alive indeed.
And we are determined more than ever.”
Typical of Mistula, the band won’t be resting on its laurels just yet, as they get ready to join the next batch of Play & Rate Competition. Please stay tuned for further announcements.
