Mistula On Film
While the ragged, renegade Mistula crew are experienced with commercial TV production, their experience is mostly spent lounging behind the camera telling various people what to do over platter after platter of snacks served to them by production assistants. Have them do the actual work – now there lies the big problem. And have them make four BJDs act – an even bigger problem. And the biggest problem of all: How can the struggling indie band Mistula produce a five-minute music video without a budget?

Screenshots from Mulat, the music video, which will be initially shown to Black Rosary members this November 2.

Black Rose, Black Rosary
And the greatest mystery of all: The Black Rose, also known as The Woman In Luscious Leather Who Created The Black Rosary, The Official Mistula Fanclub.

I do not know her, but I would love to get to know her. The lady seems to be privy to a lot of secrets. Maybe she’s having a secret affair with Bella Lugosi? They certainly seem to have the same fashion sense. (That guy is so going to get damaged should he decide to show his face in my realm.)
I also didn’t know there was going to be a fan club, but I’m glad we have one. At least now I know there are people who actually believe in Mistula besides, well, Joey and um, Rey. Belief creates gods, Terry Pratchett once wrote, and god knows Small Gods is my bible.
So if you believe in Mistula, and believe in looking at the world from a different set of eyes, join the Black Rosary circle. The Black Rose seems to know more about my own band than I do, too. Currently, she has the sneak pics from the making of the Mulat video, and will only show them to the members. And on November 2, All Souls’ Day, Black Rosary members will be first to see and download Mistula’s first-ever music video (it will be streamed from the main site a week later). There will also be a featured BJD member every month, members-only sales, special discounts on Mistula merchandise, and who knows, a chance to get to see Bella Lugosi in a yellow polka dot bikini at the Black Rosary Band Photos page – which reminds me, what were those clicking sounds by the window while I was taking a soak last night?

Please click on the poster to join. If you are having trouble with the online form, please email the information the Black Rose requires to blackrosary@mistula.com. Thank you!
Mistula : Mysteries, The Unveiling

October, the month of the Holy Rosary, unveils Mistula : Mysteries, a series of web updates that will continue until December. And no birthday or important members being away can stop this from happening. The gods of Mistula have spoken, and their will be done.

The First Sorrowful Mystery: Joey’s Agony In Front Of The Computer
And Joey wept tears of blood at every flash script that failed. I have kept her company all night, and so have two of her best BJD friends, the sisters who never sleep, Mae and Djinn, in forms of avatars on her computer screen. (Mae had similarly scourged herself over a handmade gift for Joey’s birthday, which I will show off later.) Sam, who has been on the hunt for Lugosi, was also a constant apparition. Rey came bearing gifts from Sydney, and went away with the CD of the new Mistula site for upload.

And from here, IT BEGINS.
Glitches? Please don’t hesitate to point them out to us if you spot them. Thank you.
Joeyday Not A Non-Working Holiday

Joey and her constant companion, the Powerbook, in a sketch made by her friend and officemate, Fabo.
Joey has just declared her birthday a working holiday. Half of it (from 12AM to 5PM) was already spent in the office beating a project deadline (advertising has no respect for Fridays, among other things). After a few hours of sleep, she’s now up beating all odds to make the Mistula update up-to-date.
Sometimes I wish it were as easy to acquire another Joey at Yahoo! Japan Auctions. With the kind of life she leads, she desperately needs a double, or a triple even. But I guess she’s one-of-a-kind and now a little obsolete, so we’ll just have to be careful not to break the only one we have.

The Unsuitable Replacement

Mistula is on this month’s issue of Rock Nation! And we know we won’t make it that far without you, so thank you very much for your love and constant support!
