The Unshakable Rainmakers

Dragan’s much-celebrated vacation in the Philippines wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to some of the local tourist spots. It was Yapi and Ceras’ idea to take him to Libingan ng mga Bayani, the sprawling Cemetery of Heroes in Taguig, Rizal. (Joey was considering the more usual tourist itinerary, which begins with Nayong Pilipino and ends with a Filipino dinner at Max’s Restaurant.) At Libingan ng mga Bayani, more than 33,000 white crosses became the background for Dragan’s first Philippine tour, which is also one of the highlights in the Mistula: Mysteries web update. (To access, find the one cross on III Tour.)

Dragan’s Philippine tour was not entirely uneventful. A few days before schedule, the weather bureau raised a storm warning, prompting Joey and Yapi to postpone the trip. When the weekend that was expected to be stormy turned out to be unusually sunny, an ill-humored Joey wondered if they could’ve been better advised if they consulted with astrologers.

Knowing full well that Dragan cannot stay for very long, Yapi and Joey swore that the next schedule would be met hell or high water. And so Dragan’s tour was met with a lot of water.

Yapi points to Rey, official driver of Dragan’s Mistula Philippine tour, as the rainmaker. (In the Philippines, it is believed that the rainmaker has a telling birthmark on the buttocks, but Yapi has politely refused to probe Rey for evidence.) Prepared for the worst, Joey made sure important equipment were waterproof, while Yapi made sure her umbrella matched her gothic lolita outfit.

Ceras, never quite the workaholic, refused to pose for most of the photos. While Yapi spent ages muttering angrily while trying to help him up, Joey was able to shoot the Mistula Tour featuring the guitarists Dragan and Manx.

Joey and the rest of Mistula would like to thank Yapi and Ceras for running around like wet puppies and disrupting the peace at the Libingan ng mga Bayani to make Dragan’s Philippine tour possible and unforgettable. It wouldn’t have been a splash without you.

The photos labeled Fully Articulated were taken by Rey. To see more of the camwhore Yapi, please visit her Livejournal, Antisocial Climber. Dragan is owned by Sam.

COMING UP: Dragan, Manx and Ceras take you around the Cemetery of Heroes.

  1. Hah haaa! The British weather followed you Dragan! XP

  2. Why does Joey always turn her back to the camera? T_T

That’s such an amazing place. I’m glad Mistula takes us all over the Philippines.

    • Because Joey thinks turning her back to the camera is a smarter idea than wearing glasses and a fake moustache!

Please come over so we can give you a less virtual tour of the Philippines! (^^)

  3. Haha~! XD Dragan visited the Philippines at the wrong time since it’s the rainy season and all but, despite the ‘high water’ encountered, everything turned out really nice! (At least, that’s what it seemed to me while viewing the pics. XP Hehe…)

  4. Did you noticed that ghastly image behind cross where they were posing??^_^’
uhhhm….well maybe it was only my imagination…hehe

Rain or shine i hope you enjoy your trip around the Philippines Dragan!!

  5. Damn, I guess Lugosi must have done that rain dance after all…

  6. Next time you want me to stay standing for long periods of time at a shoot, bring some babes to keep me energetic. And production food! Where was the production food?

  7. Ceras was being a super brat. My deepest apologies.

Dragan, I wouldn’t have been able to get Ceras to get off his lazy butt and stand properly without your help! He seems to have gotten quite fond of you. Thanks! :D

  8. Hey. Remember me?

I can’t believe you managed to do it. You really created a celebrity. I knew you were a freaking genius ever since I first met you. And you were just, what, 12 then?

Let’s talk sometime. I’m in London, by the way, but I don’t see any signs of Dragan on the streets.

  9. Poor Rey! Everyone calls me a rainmaker too…don’t know why… -.-’

  10. Well, despite the rain, you guys look like you had an interesting time (even though Ceras refused to cooperate XD)
I’m not to good with history, but what’s a Korean flag doing up there in the last photo??

    • Yapi is looking up the Korean Memorial Pylon. It is a towering monument honoring the 112 Filipino officers and men who were members of the Philippine Expeditionary Forces to Korea (PEFTOK) who perished during the Korean War.

  11. The color theme seems to be black, white and red.
