Seeing Red
How can we go on with our lives if everytime I post a picture here I am afraid someone will steal or vandalize it? eL and her fellow vigilantes are reporting new Friendster links everyday, all of them owned by Filipinos. What does that tell us?

Somehow we feel responsible for all the pictures stolen from the sites linked to us, like Tangled Web, Illness Illusion and Kiriko’s Lantern Lost. We promise to do everything we can for these photos to be properly credited or taken down. And we apologize for our fellow Filipinos; I am disheartened to discover that most of us are not responsible and considerate Internet users.
I wish my next post will not contain more illegal Friendster links. I am sure these offensive sites sadden our friends, who want to see more of us in happier situations. PLEASE STOP STEALING NOW. Or I will be convinced that I was wrong in sharing ourselves with you.

i was once one of these “people” who used Mistula images for my own personal agendas. but realizing what it really means, i seeked help. now i understand that being a fan/follower/decsiple is not all about what other people sees outside of you. “if you cant play by the rules, dont play at all”. sorry if i was ever a burden to you guys.

Internet thieves will steal web content no matter where you are based. The Philippines nurtures Mistula’s soul. There is no need for the band to leave its home.
There is, however, a need for people to be made aware of INTERNET ETHICS. Rather than convincing Mistula to leave their country, we should work together to educate these people and hopefully, stop them from stealing intellectual property.

Problem is, our countrymen seem to lack the initiative to follow rules. A lot of them think that just because it’s posted on the internet for everyone to see, it’s alright to take them and use them for their own purposes. I’ve had cases of people stealing content from some of my sites too, and sadly, most of them are Filipino. -_-;

Thank you, Banana Man. This is very heartening to know. El is right, theft in the local Web groups is rampant because they are ignorant of Internet copyright laws. Please spread the word, and always report theft to the site owners. If you have Friendster buddies who are using photos that are not theirs, please remind them to link back.

that’s ok ^_^. by the way, im not much of a reader and not much of a computer wiz but i think you might wanna check this sites found. it contains Java Scripts on how to maximize the security of images on a web page. a.k.a. watermarking, perl scripts, disable image tool bar, meta tags and encrypting.

I think Mulat the music video is already being aired on MYX. I myself have not seen it, but our friends told us they’ve seen it on Premiere.
You need to download Quicktime 7 to view the MPEG-4 video file. Click on the Mulat icon (with Lugosi’s eye) on the sidebar at the main page for more details.

too bad i cant watch MYX here. stupid italians dont want to connect TFCs on this apartment. though im pretty sure that Mistula desciples were shouting their lungs out after seeing the video on television ^_^. ground breaking i might add.
oh yeah, i just remembered. there was this 1 time last year, i was browsing on this page. when i was about to save an image on the page a.k.a right click, there was a very small pop-up window stating “No stealing, thief!”. ngayon ko lang naalala but i forgot what the website was. i wanted to know what ASCII or Java Scripting the owner used on that page so that you guys might use it. im still searching what website that was, hoping that the page still exist.
by the way, did the sites i gave be of any help at all? i ordered some scripting installers so that i might find a way to reduce image copying. i also heard that print screen thing can be disabled O_O!

Since you are a Black Rosary member, you can always download the Mulat video from the Black Rosary site. You will need to download Quicktime 7 to view it.
Yes, there is a javascript that enables that window to pop up. However, it does not work on all browsers. Joey found the links you gave very helpful. She is doing her own research as well.

yup. i do live in batangas but i left and spend my holiday vacation here in rome, italy last Dec 15. its kinda hard here but fun wanyways. got me an unlimited internet up to 10.0 mbps so im not bored hehe. yah, i just did and what can i say, kick-ass video, man!!

by the way, when is Sumang going to be released? stupid italians kept on saying to lower the volume when im playing your songs!

oo nga pala! a friend of mine told me that theirs a script that disables print screen once the user opened a browser, including computer and document browser. im still checking online manuals for that. it is most likely involving MsDOS commands, which i suck in using it.

Joey figured out a way to protect our photos, and we can only hope it deters thieves somehow. I don’t think it is possible to completely stop them from stealing off the internet, but we can complicate their lives a bit more.
