Skye Goes To Work
Dear Fedya and Lu,
I’m sorry I haven’t written in ages. Life’s been very hectic since I came to the Philippines. I’m training under Uno now, learning about Responsibility and Discipline because he told me, “Skye, life is short so get off your ass and do something worthwhile for cripessakes.” So that’s what I’m doing now. It’s hard to argue with someone bigger than you are.
I’ve started working for an advertising agency called Y&R and today, we’re making voodoo dolls. Don’t ask me why. It’s hard to explain what the advertising profession is all about. Uno, who is an ECD (Executive Creative Doll), said it has a lot to do with “making people buy things they don’t really need”. Like voodoo dolls.
I found out that most advertising people have at least two lives. Uno is virtual rockstar. Derrick is an aging rockstar. Fabo is a street artist. Mike is drag racer. Bennet is an alien. Rey is a superhero (known as the Bahtman, the Thai bootleg version of the Dark Knight) and his wife, Joey, is a super villain. But all of them go to work everyday to make commercials and sometimes, voodoo dolls. That’s probably what Uno meant by “living life to the fullest.”
The voodoo dolls were sold at Market! Market! as part of the 2005 Agency of the Year Awards. We sold a lot of the little fellows. A lot of people wanted to buy me, too, but none of the offers was high enough. (The highest was 1,000 pesos which was roughly 20 dollars.) Some people thought I was Uno and I just smiled back. I know he said “No to fakes!” but that’s what he gets for being anti-social!
Derrick made our shop look like a set from a Manowar music video.

I’m having a lot of fun here. Don’t you guys worry about me. So far no one has told me discriminatory stuff like “you don’t belong here, you dummy”. I guess what’s awesome about this job is that everybody thinks out of the box and heck, it’s great to be out of the box!

Mommy Amy sent Skye to the Philippines to be mentored by Uno. He left his friends, Lu and Fedya, in the United States. He seems to be taking his lessons quite seriously.

OMG! I was actually supposed to give you guys voodoo dolls when i went home during Christmas but didn’t have time to finish them so I was gonna give them this summer instead! I have a Manx and Uno made but didn’t get around to sewing everybody else. Youre guys are cute though and I love the packaging in little jars. Skye looks like he had a lot of fun helping make them, maybe he can help me finish my voodoo dolls too! haha! ^_^

Omilord, I kept a few blank voodoo dolls for myself so I could make them some Mistula witch dolls! I never got around to making them, though. That’s great you made some for us! Gah, I can’t wait to see ‘em! (^_____^)

I have no idea T_T She text me this morning and I text her back to let her know that you have been trying to contact her, but I didn’t hear back from her so I’m not sure she got it? She mentioned wanted to meet up with you guys before she left, so I sort of assumed plans had alerady been made ^^; *dies*
But, yeah, your guess is as good as mine O_o as I haven’t really been able to get ahold of her either T_T
