Hope
And the sun shines on Rey’s birthday.

Our new house, the Shelf, was flooded last Saturday, but the water was only ankle-deep (knee-deep if you’re a BJD) and it was gone in a few hours. Outside, Typhoon Ondoy tossed cars, destroyed houses, separated families, drowned loved ones. The skies cried with us for three days.

Yet, we must never stop searching for reasons to be happy. And when you find it, share it.

So glad to hear you’re okay! So sorry for the many who aren’t. Our thoughts are with you.
October 1st, 2009 - 18:14
Thank you so much, Janne. We have so much rebuilding to do. I don’t even know where to begin.
September 30th, 2009 - 02:41
*MASSIVE MASSIVE HUGS*
I was very late with hearing this news, but I am so incredibly relieved to hear that you’re safe and unharmed and the Shelf made it out in tact. My heart goes out to everyone else there who suffered such a terrible catastrophe. Thank you also for the link to the ABS-CBN foundation – I meant to ask you what you thought would be the most useful way that I can help out without being physically present.
Also, have a glorious birthday Rey! The sun always does come out after the storm and we must always look for things to celebrate and be thankful for.

MOLLY! Thank you so much, as always. ♥
I have a bit of bad news: Terranova’s box got wet. I’m so sorry! But she’s safe in the Mistula Complex with the rest of the guys. I dried her box out today. I think it can be saved, but it won’t look the same. Sorry, Molly!
October 3rd, 2009 - 01:55
Always, always! I’m just so glad you’re safe! *clings* ♥
And please don’t spare yourself a moment’s worry about the box. A box is a box – as long as you and your property and everyone that you care about is safe and undamaged that’s all that matters!

*HUGS*
You’re one of the sweetest, kindest people I know, Molly. What a joy to have a friend like you. ♥
The box can still hold Terranova unless she decides to blast it open. It’s a little wonky now but, hey, it’s an authentic souvenir from the Philippines! Waah.
September 30th, 2009 - 08:23
Glad you are okay, so much bad weather and earthquakes, sigh.
I can’t imagine what a struggle it is for many in your country. Maybe this will get them a little more help.
best wishes to all!
October 1st, 2009 - 18:24
We have so much to do. Our group is doing the best we can to help in our own little way. Thanks so much, Julie. ♥
September 30th, 2009 - 08:34
You guys are safe. That’s a good thing.
October 1st, 2009 - 18:25
Thanks, Dino. Now we help the others.
September 30th, 2009 - 10:21
Rey! Happy Happy Birthday! Oh thank God you’re all safe~! Believe me, I know how it feels. It shone on my birthday just last Sunday. Thank goodness the storm didn’t go that far. If your house got flooded, our school did too.
October 1st, 2009 - 15:05
By the way, don’t let your guiard down! Pepeng is said to be more merciless!
October 1st, 2009 - 18:26
If Pag-asa says Pepeng will be merciless, then I’m sure it’ll be a sunny day tomorrow.
October 1st, 2009 - 18:28
Belated happy birthday, by the way! Uno wasn’t able to keep his promise due to the recent turn of events. We’re sorry! I hope you understand.
October 2nd, 2009 - 10:17
Thanks! Of course I understand!
He must’ve been forced to flee the Mistula complex as soon as the water started coming in! Anyhoo, did they try doing some super spy method to get to safety like climbing the wires or something?
October 2nd, 2009 - 12:20
The Mistula Complex is in the second floor of our house so we were safe, but that doesn’t mean we’re oblivious to the devastation around us. We plan to help in our own small way soon.
September 30th, 2009 - 12:24
I’m glad to hear you are okay. I hope there isn’t too much water damage in your house. Happy Birthday, Rey!
October 1st, 2009 - 18:33
Panic gave us super strength and we were able to lift most of the solid wood furniture up to the second floor! Everything is intact save for a few things, like Terranova’s poor box, some of Rey’s comics and our fish, who mistook the flood for the open sea.
As for Rey, he had a halfheartedly happy birthday.
September 30th, 2009 - 20:03
Glad you guys are okay. :3
Happy birthday, Rey.
I know how that feels. D: …This is from someone who got stranded in Morayta, and still (helping with) cleaning the house from when ankle-deep flood waters hit my own home.
October 1st, 2009 - 18:34
At least you’re unharmed, and that’s what matters most. It took us two days to clean the house, too. My shoulders are still hurting to this day.
October 1st, 2009 - 01:40
Happy Birthday Rey! X3 I’m relieved to know that you guys are safe!
On a sad note, the ankle-deep flood that happened to the Shelf is almost the same as what happened to our house in the last Typhoon Milenyo 3 years ago (yep, even Antipolo was not spared from the flooding ><). The only difference between then and now was that Ondoy is even worse (8 inches of water in the house) and the damage wrought — along with lost lives — everywhere in Rizal and Central Luzon is beyond overwhelming.
October 1st, 2009 - 18:39
JEN! THANK GOD YOU’RE ALRIGHT! I was texting you last weekend but you weren’t replying! Then again, the signal has been pretty wonky since the storm. We’re still luckier than most; some of my friends lost their entire homes.
October 2nd, 2009 - 04:23
You were!? O.o”’ Yeah, the Globe connection has also gone wonkers when I was calling / texting my parents and siblings but there is no reply / signal. Luckily, there’s not that much damage back home but the flood’s terrible along Marcos Hi-way on my way home last Sunday (got stranded in the office at the height of the typhoon). If it weren’t for the big truck I’ve managed to hitch a ride on top, I would have had no choice but to wade through the flood waters just to reach Masinag and go home. >.<”’ I really feel for the rest who lost their homes in the most affected areas (some of my office mates and friends).
October 2nd, 2009 - 12:39
I think the telecommunication lines were flooded with worried calls and texts, too. I’m glad you made it safe despite the agony you waded through. We have to help the others now.
October 1st, 2009 - 06:20
This is probably the best news I have heard in a week! I am so relieved that you & yours are safe (though I feel guilty for feeling this way when so many aren’t). Ginormous hugs to you all! *hugs*
Happy Birthday, Rey!!! May your birthday wishes come true!
October 1st, 2009 - 18:42
I am so relieved that you & yours are safe (though I feel guilty for feeling this way when so many aren’t).
Exactly what I feel, Jenny. It’s not right to be happy now. But thank you so much. ♥
October 2nd, 2009 - 18:29
Belated happy birthday, Rey! I hope that it was still happy, despite everything that has and is happening.
And I’m really glad that you all are okay…
October 3rd, 2009 - 21:23
Thank you, Bea! I hope you and your family are safe and warm, too. I’ll pass the birthday message to Rey.
October 3rd, 2009 - 19:41
Another belated happy birthday!
Glad to hear you’re okay, but I heard the weather is hitting again… Hope you all make it through okay!
October 3rd, 2009 - 21:26
We made it through another storm yet again! Thanks very much, Isabel.
October 5th, 2009 - 19:17
I’m glad you’re all okay. =)
October 6th, 2009 - 14:23
Thanks, Gemma.
October 9th, 2009 - 09:53
..this calamity is the result of our own actions..
nature just punishes us for all
the wrong things we did to her..
..tsk…
October 10th, 2009 - 19:52
Belated Happy Birthday Rey!
December 25th, 2009 - 02:30
Joey, i’m glad that both of you are safe. i’m also glad that the flood over your area isn’t as deep as how it was here in our place. mejo nasa likod lang ata kami ng lugar niyo kasi alam ko may short cut papunta jan mula dito sa amin.
