Flowery Words
Joey thanks everybody who remembered her birthday last Thursday, October 22 – and thanks Facebook’s birthday alarm, too, or she wouldn’t have remembered it herself. Old age can take a toll on one’s memory, and Joey never had a good one to start off with.
This year, the first person to greet her at the stroke of 12 was Krishna – and she was also first last year. (Thank you, Krishna!) Rey has been disqualified on the basis of affinity, even if he started greeting Joey every single day for an entire week before her birthday. (Thank you, Rey. Sigh.)

Recently, Joey has grown to love gardening as old people are wont to. She claims to derive so much wisdom from planting seeds, trimming hedges and occasionally screaming at the sight of earthworms (which she is deathly afraid of). From gardening, she has learned that ‘a flower is a plant that rises above the weeds’ and ‘a coffee bean, when planted on a magnet mushroom, will disarm all the zombies’.*
