Uno’s FAve of the Month: 9
Starting this month, a member of the Fully Articulated crew will share a favorite. We will call these FAves (Fully Articulated Favorites): movies, music, books, places, food or other things we like that you might like as well.
Because I am Uno, I’m always first in line. And I will start with 9.

9 is a post-apocalypic CG movie from visionaries Tim Burton, Timur Bekmambetov and Shane Acker. It takes place after machines have wiped humanity off the face of the Earth and all that is left are pieces of fabric, bits of wire and various scraps. From these last tatters, 9 ragdolls were created and given the task of restoring life to the dying planet.
Hmm, ragdolls on a mission. Doesn’t that sound a lot like our Manikako? ![]()
I like 9 not only because the little ragdolls look so much like futuristic Manikako, but because they remind me of my own borrowed life. Doll owners have often wondered if dolls can have souls, and 9 answers that in the most imaginative, visually-arresting, thought-provoking way. I will not reveal that here; it’s best you watch the movie and find out for yourself.

9 was released in theaters last 9/9/09, but I don’t think it was shown in the Philippines. We saw it on DVD. You know where to find your DVDs, right?

Of the ragdolls, 7 is my favorite. She is the only girl in the group, and she kicks ass.

Were you expecting I’d pick 1? Hey, I’m not that predictable.

Ah, 9 <3
I don't think it made it to the Netherlands on 9/9/09, but the DVD release was on time… which was good, I might've had a brainasplody otherwise XD
March 15th, 2010 - 21:46
It didn’t make it to Philippine theaters at all, cryin’ shame.
Have you seen the 9 action figures? We want them. Looky!
March 15th, 2010 - 22:57

WATCH ME CRINGE AT THE MEMORY OF DANCING PEEN.
March 16th, 2010 - 04:03
Nice review, will have to see if I can find it. We get our dvds from Red Box. That is I get them because Mikey and Tach are too short to reach the screen. Thank goodness!
March 16th, 2010 - 18:11
Thank goodness, indeed. I’m sure Mikey will gravitate to the ones with naked girls!
March 16th, 2010 - 09:34
Oh, I got a DVD of 9 a few months ago, but I kept on forgetting to watch it! I’m definitely going to now that you recommended it. XD
March 16th, 2010 - 18:11
Watch it! I think you’ll love it.
March 16th, 2010 - 10:55
pics seems creepy. does it? but i’ll try watching it, one of this days:)
March 16th, 2010 - 18:15
It depends on what is creepy for you. It’s definitely not a horror movie, but it’s also not your regular Disney movie.
March 16th, 2010 - 12:28
Will check it out. Thanks for the suggestion!
March 16th, 2010 - 18:19
My pleasure!
March 16th, 2010 - 19:12
I’ll find it too!!! It looks intresting and specially Uno review it…
March 17th, 2010 - 20:59

March 16th, 2010 - 23:43

It was released on my Birthday~ ahahah!! 9-9-09
If Uno likes it..
then it’s a movie worth watching! Yey!
I’ll go check it out :3
March 17th, 2010 - 21:00
Then you and 9 have the same birthday! Hope you like it as much as I do!
March 17th, 2010 - 01:49
Oh no, another Tim Burton movie! And I haven’t even watched Alice in Wonderland yet. @_@
…
Still, I’ll look for a copy too.
March 17th, 2010 - 21:16
It’s actually a Shane Acker movie. Shane Acker made a short film about 9 for his thesis, and Tim Burton helped him turn it into a full-length movie. It would’ve been awesome if 9 was in 3D like Alice in Wonderland!
March 17th, 2010 - 14:57
If it’s Tim Burton, it’s BOUND to be awesome.
There are so many cool movies that don’t get to be shown in the Philippines! SO UNFAIR!!!
I’m gonna go get a copy after my tests this Friday.
March 17th, 2010 - 21:19
Tim Burton believed in Shane Acker’s work, which is why he produced it. But it’s really a Shane Acker movie.
Well, at least we have no shortage of DVDs.

I saw 9 this winter, and was gibberingly in love with the ingenious visuals and concepts – I kept on wanting to pause every other second to get a better look at the settings and all of the dolls’ little tools and accessories! 7 was pretty freaking badass – I loved her helmet and ninja-style moves. The twins were so charming, too.
March 17th, 2010 - 21:26
It really is a visual delight, and the story is so profound, too. I don’t think we’ll ever tire of watching it just to see all the little details!
March 17th, 2010 - 21:16
loving it!!
March 17th, 2010 - 21:29
March 19th, 2010 - 08:16
nice to be back… and what a nice post… i love that movie…me and my brothers saw it through the use of internet…its really cute and i love the twins very much…^^…along with 7 for being a tough one…
March 19th, 2010 - 20:32
Two thumbs up!
March 19th, 2010 - 08:43
movie soo touching!
March 19th, 2010 - 20:33
I concur!
March 19th, 2010 - 17:01
That’s an awesome movie! I haven’t watched the actual movie yet though…just the trailer…
March 19th, 2010 - 20:36
A friend showed us the trailer last year because she thought the characters looked like gritty Manikakos. The movie does not disappoint; it’s as awesome as the trailer.
March 20th, 2010 - 08:26
Now I’m *extremely* curious about watching this movie ^^
March 22nd, 2010 - 17:03
Oh, I think you and Reiaiah would love it.
