A Most Extraordinary Jollibee Party (Part 1)
When Joey asked Gabie if she’s coming to my party, Gabie replied, “Of course! I’m not about to miss the Jollibee Party of the Century!”

The Jollibee Hall was decked out when we arrived. A huge Jollitown banner greeted me a Happy Birthday. The balloons were black and red as requested. Party hats and loot bags were laid out on the tables. As Rey and Derrick set up the Mistula banners, the Jollibee crew ran Joey through the evening’s programme. The party will begin with a birthday song, and upon the host’s signal, the celebrant will walk in and –
“Wait,” said Joey, Mistula roadie and now party organizer, “The birthday celebrant can’t walk.”
“Oh,” said the host, apologetically, “Is he-“”
“He’s a doll.”
The party host laughed, and then realized, a little too late, that Joey was not joking. He glanced nervously at the guests: mostly adults in black, carrying dolls. “Seriously?”
Joey pointed at me, sitting at the table. “That’s our birthday boy.”
“Oh!” he said, and, “Oh. So that’s Uno? Wow. This is a first.”
Joey grinned. Behind her, Rey and Derrick deliberated where to put Manx’s banner.
“Well,” the host coughed. “I’m sure we can adjust the programme. Any more… things I should know?”
Joey gave him a reassuring pat on the back. “Just be ready for anything.”
