Happy Surprises
Last Thursday, December 3, was my birthday. Heartfelt thanks to Jie and Tin who remembered and reminded Joey to greet me. I did notice the lack of Joey’s traditional birthday tributes where she reminisces how she fell in love with Volks SD13 Shiro Tachibana – but got me instead, as if I forced myself into her life. Thank you, Joey. Know that if not for me, you won’t have as many friends, you ingrate.
She did take me to Italianni’s to chaperone Lobo who’s meeting Ichigo after her fabulous makeover in Singapore. The only thing I had to look forward to was Lobo turning werewolf and devouring more than pasta. People from the next table did come over to gape at us, but that’s normal; it always happens whenever we’re in a public place. It was just another ordinary Thursday.
Or so I thought.
Inspirations
It is always an honor to receive heartwarming gifts from such talented artists – and a delight to see Mistula through other people’s eyes. As they have shared these artworks with us, we’d like to share them with our friends as well.

Kurimja’s Red Lobo
War of the Wolves has inspired even the fiercely talented artist and dear friend, Hyae Na, into making this wicked portrait of Red Lobo. Which made me fiercely jealous – because didn’t she once say I’m her numero Uno? I hope she’s preparing something even better for me, like a ten-foot, sarong-clad statue of myself being worshipped by at least 20 voluptuous virgins in Bali. I expect no less from Hyae Na.
Hyae Na is well-known as Kurimja on DeviantArt. We spent some time with her and her little sidekick, Kaelen, in Bali, running away from thieving monkeys and getting possessed by ancient spirits. We hope to see her and some komodo dragons again soon.
