Red Zep and Minuet

Red Zep is Manx Minuet’s stunning new guitar. Mia, ever generous, sent it to me as a Christmas gift, but after much thought, I handed it down to one who can make it shine even more. Manx, after all, is Mistula‘s lead guitarist, and she has mastery over six and/or twelve strings. (For those new to the weirdworld of Mistula, I, Uno, play the dual role of frontman and bassist.)

Bring me bling-bling.

The spiffy necklace is a Christmas gift from Leigh, Joey’s boss lady and renown creator of Wish Jewelry. Joey also got her matching necklace, but unlike me, she refuses to pose shirtless in front of the camera.

Most of Leigh’s jewelry of semi-precious stones are made while brainstorming in the office, and are usually left lying around when she absentmindedly drifts off to the next meeting. Joey now has an impressive collection of Leigh’s abandoned jewelry. She is currently struggling to choose between lifelong friendship or a seller’s account on eBay.

Me, Myself and Manx.

Ho-hum. Being home alone ain’t as fun as I thought t’would be.

Ah.

Yep, being alone is fun.
Dreaming of a white Christmas.

Christmas in the Philippines is never white. It never snows here. We don’t have snowmen, snowboarding or snowball fights. There is also no need for us to spend our Christmas bonus on the latest winter collection, much to Joey’s regret. Joey insists on wearing her boots and scarves to work as soon as the temperature falls to 20 degrees Celsius (much aided by hardworking air conditioners).

But while it never becomes Winter Wonderland here, Christmas is the merriest time in the Philippines. The Filipinos enjoy it so much it lasts until the Feast of the Three Kings on January 6. Christmas is when families are reunited, old friends are remembered, and pounds are gained eating native treats prepared especially for the occassion. The Christmas spirit so fills the air here, it makes me feel alive.
